Our Leadership Team
Jim Boland started his career at Boland as an account executive in 1978 and has steadily worked up through the ranks of the company. In 1982, he was promoted to manager of parts and then to assistant vice president of service operations in 1985. He was subsequently promoted to vice president of service operations in 1986. Jim was elected president and CEO of Boland in 2003.
Jim is a graduate of Georgetown Preparatory School in Rockville, Maryland. He received a BSBA degree from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration from Loyola College. He is a graduate of the Trane Company Sales Engineer Graduate Training Class. Formerly chairman of the board of directors of Georgetown Preparatory and Mater Dei School, Jim is currently the chairman of The Flax Trust of America. His memberships include the John Carroll Society and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. His professional memberships include the Mechanical Contractors of America (MCA) where he served as former board chairman, ASHRAE and AOBA. Jim is currently the President of the National Association of Trane Franchise Holders (NATFH) and a member of the Distribution Advisory Board (DAB) for the Trane Company.
Lou Boland began his career as an account executive in 1978 and in 1998 was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing. He was elected to his current position in 2003.
A graduate of Spring Hill College, Lou received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He is a past president and current member of the Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA). He is also a member of the National Association of Trane Franchise Holders (NATFH). His personal and charitable memberships include John Carroll Society (officer), Friendly Sons of St. Patrick (past president), Sovereign Military Order of Malta Federal Association, The Flax Trust of America and Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School (board of directors).
Larry joined Boland in 1981 as Controller and, in 1985, was elected to the Board of Directors. He was appointed Vice President and Chief Financial Officer that same year. He was elevated to Senior Vice President in 2003. Today, Larry is responsible for the Boland Parts Distribution Business as well as Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and Legal.
He is a Certified Public Accountant and, prior to joining Boland, was a partner in a local CPA firm where he specialized in tax compliance and planning, management consulting and audit services. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Benjamin Franklin University and Cathedral Latin High School.
Active in various community organizations, Larry resides in Gaithersburg with his wife Cyndi. They have three adult children and are proud grandparents. Larry’s brother, John, is Boland's Owner Sales Leader.
Jerry began his career at Boland over 25 years ago as a sales engineer and was promoted to account executive before becoming the sales manager. In 2001, Jerry was promoted to Vice President, Sales. Before joining Boland, he was a marketing engineer for self-contained products for Trane Company in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
Jerry graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA with an emphasis in marketing strategy. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of California.
Jerry is active with the American Society of Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). He has also coached youth sports and been active in his parish and college alumni associations. He lives with his wife in North Potomac. They have four adult children.
Sarah Heitkemper has led Boland’s Human Resources team since 1992. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut in human development and maintains Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) and Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) accreditations.
Sarah is active with the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Mechanical Contractors Association of Metropolitan Washington (MCAMW), where she serves on the student committee. She lives in University Park with her husband and children, and together they are active with Prince Georges Lacrosse Club, Lewisdale-University Park Boys and Girls Club, University Park Junior Cotillion, and the University Park Civic Association.
Sean Boland leads Boland’s Owner Sales Team, Energy Solutions Team, as well as Service, Controls and Contracting Operations. Sean graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and History. He attended Trane’s Graduate Training Program and earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Sean has spent time in both the Sales and Operations areas of the business and is knowledgeable in HVAC Equipment, Controls, Service, and Energy Management.
Sean is active with the Mechanical Contractors Association of Metropolitan Washington, where he serves on the Conference Committee and as an Industry Fund Trustee. Sean is a proud member of the Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and resides in Bethesda with his wife and two sons.
