EarthWise™ Design Approach
For any building owner concerned with energy, indoor-air quality (IAQ) and the environment, Trane’s EarthWise systems represent a design philosophy whose time has come. EarthWise Systems by definition provide documented sustainability of high efficiency, low emissions over the entire lifetime of the building.
Compared to conventional designs, EarthWise systems reduce total cost of ownership with lower investment cost and reduced ongoing operating costs. The system includes a low-flow, low-temperature, high-efficiency design that uses smaller pipes and pumps, thus fewer natural resources and less energy for water circulation. Additionally, the colder water makes colder air, which is distributed throughout zones in smaller ducts, using less energy for fan circulation and less material for the ductwork. Supplying less airflow at colder temperatures permits quieter operation and reduces relative humidity in the building, improving indoor air quality. The approach reduces environmental impact through requiring less space, less energy to run, and have optimized control algorithms for sustainable performance.
With more LEED certified “green-building” professionals than any other company in the industry, Boland engineers have many EarthWise™ systems from which to choose. Not only is an EarthWise system less expensive to purchase, install, and operate, but it takes up less space, which leaves architects more valuable volume to design for the people and purpose of the building.
