Protecting 100,000 Sq Ft of History!

The Trump Hotel is a redevelopment project of the historic Old Post Office Pavilion located at 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The Old Post Office Pavilion's Clock Tower is the third tallest structure in the city, reaching 315 ft high. The landmark has pereservered despite numerous demolitian threats over its 117 year existence. The implemented system would operate a span of over 100,000 sq ft of interior space.

Plans included Trane® CenTraVac™ Centrifugal chillers , 15 Performance Climate Changers, several Single Zone VAV units, Packaged DX Dedicated Outdoor Air units with CDQ wheels & a Tracer SC building automation system. The Boland fulfillment team worked together through some design challenges including: development of a free-cooling chiller plant sequence, implementing space comfort cooling control throughout the 9-story open corridor called the "Cortile" area, and developing a sequence for radiant floor heating below a 5-inch marble slab.

Donald Trump paid a visit to the luxury hotel to meet and greet the entire construction team, and thank them personally. The Trump building facilities staff and the General Contractor, Lendlease, was thoroughly pleased with Boland's professionalism and tremendous contribution of building automation and control strategies.

"As one of the MEP leaders at Lend Lease I am often asked to jump into an ongoing project and assist the local team to bring the project to a successful conclusion. When I was directed to inject myself into the Trump International Hotel project I immediately went to the building automation shop drawings to give me an indication of my chances of success . From my first meeting with your staff I was obvious I was working with a professional organization. Your engineering , sequence of operations and project management / field staff exceeded all of my expectations."
