Jim Boland Receives Catholic Business Network’s Business Person of the Year

Boland (Boland.com), a leading intelligent building technology and energy services provider, is pleased to announce that its CEO and President, Jim Boland, has been awarded Catholic Business Network’s Business Person of the Year at the 26th Annual Gala for his outstanding work in the Montgomery County community and beyond.

The Catholic Business Network of Montgomery County (CBN-MC) is an independent, non-profit organization of businesses and individual professionals working together to support education in Montgomery County. From the beginning, the members of CBN-MC have made education the focus of their charitable work. Since inception, CBN-MC has distributed more than $1,000,000 in development grants to schools, essay scholarships, and need-based scholarships.


Jim’s Dedication to the Community

Jim has been a long-time supporter of organizations in and around Washington, DC that give back to the community. In addition to being Chairman of Flax Trust of America, he is also a member of the John Carroll Society and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He also drives support for several charities with a main focus on organizations which assist veterans, the underprivileged and provide educational opportunities.


Jim has ensured that helping others is deeply rooted in company culture. He has continued to inspire the Boland associates by assisting with the creation of the Boland Cares program in 2019, giving individuals the opportunity to donate their time and money to enhance our local communities. This year, the Boland Cares program has sponsored more than 20 events in the DMV area and partnered with the organizations below, among many others not listed:



Boland provides a Charitable Matching Program to associates so that they may donate to causes near and dear to them. Additionally, Boland provides Volunteer Time Off or VTO, generously giving associates up to eight hours annually to dedicate to volunteer service in the community.

Jim’s Dedication to Boland

Jim began his career with Boland more than 40 years ago, gaining unparalleled experience in the commercial HVAC industry. Starting out as an account executive in 1978, Jim became the President and CEO in 2003. Boland is now approaching its monumental 60th year of business with more than 350 employees.
