EMR RATING
What is an EMR rating?
Boland's
EMR Safety Rating
.59
The Experience Modification Rate (EMR) is used to calculate a company’s worker compensation premium for insurance purposes. This rating is derived from several factors, including:
-
Frequency and severity of losses and claims
-
Comparison to the industry average (set at a score of 1.0)
-
Review of scores of a three to four year period, payroll, and more
What does this mean?
This communicates to you if the company is a greater risk than the national industry average or a lesser and better risk than the industry average and if they are paying higher premiums per employee compared to their peers. A company with an EMR of 1.2 has more losses and claims than average and is paying 20% more than average. A company with an EMR of 0.9 has less losses and claims and pays 10% less than average.

BOLAND SAFETY PROGRAM
Boland has built a safety program to decrease the EMR rating and remain OSHA compliant, which includes:
-
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – We provide and require the use of Personal Protective Equipment for all employees on job sites or in warehouse spaces.
-
Drug and Alcohol-Free - Boland is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and productive drug and alcohol-free workplace. The use of drugs may create a variety of workplace problems, including increased injuries on the job, decreased productivity, and a decline in the quality of our services. All Boland employees are required to submit to drug and alcohol testing: pre‐employment, random, for cause, and post-accident.
-
Job Safety Analysis - Boland is committed to regular safety analysis of our job sites. Our supervisors conduct a thorough inspection to identify and eliminate unsafe conditions and to ensure compliance with our safety program.
-
Accident Investigation - We investigate all workplace accidents with the goal of preventing future incidents. The investigations determine appropriate follow‐up action, including: getting medical attention for the injured, completing an investigation report and recommending or implementing appropriate corrective actions. Our goal is a zero‐accident workplace!
-
Safety Incentive Program - At Boland, Safety is core to every aspect of our business. Safety incentives are only one part of our overall safety‐minded culture. The purpose of our Safety Incentive Program is to reward employees for positive behaviors, heighten awareness of potential hazards in the workplace, demonstrate safety proficiency, take proactive actions to reduce or eliminate hazards, as well as make safety suggestions. Boland’s Safety Incentive Program recognizes and rewards those employees who demonstrate safety proficiency.
-
Safety Training - Toolbox Safety Talks are held on a monthly basis for our technical personnel. Safety training of all associates is conducted according to our safety training matrix.
