Ensuring that systems are adaptable to future technological advancements can be a challenge. As buildings evolve, smart building advancements are now crucial to unlocking energy efficiency, enhanced occupant comfort, cost savings, and sustainability efforts.

We understand that building owners are looking for solutions that are easy to install and maintain, deliver efficiency, and are cost-effective. Luckily, Trane® Air-Fi® Wireless Communication system does just that. Over 50,000 projects have utilized Air-Fi® to facilitate seamless network communication with Tracer systems.

Here’s how it works: the interface enables wireless communication between system controls, unit controls, and wireless sensors for Trane® control products that use BACnet®. The sensor is compatible with any Trane® controller that uses a wireless communications interface. The system adheres to ANSI/ASHRAE Standards 125-2016, which guarantees security and reliability with other wireless systems. A major benefit of the Air-Fi® Wireless system is its ability to provide robust communication between zone sensors, equipment, and the building automation system, without needing network communication wiring. Air-Fi® Wireless sensor hardware can include temperature, CO2, and relative humidity modules, making it easier to monitor your building's environment.

Advantages of Using Air-Fi® Wireless Communication:

  1. Easy installation - Since wires do not need to be run through the walls, minimal labor is needed. Air-Fi® is available factory-installed on equipment and pre-addressed in the factory, which speeds up setup and reduces occupant disruption.

  2. Flexible - Air-Fi® can integrate with legacy, present, and future generations of equipment. The wireless system enables easy reconfiguration for evolving spaces, making installation less complex and more cost-effective.

  3. Reliable - The self-healing mesh technology reduces downtime, and the signal range is the strongest among other wireless systems on the market.

  4. Security - Air-Fi® Wireless is based on the industry-accepted ASHRAE BACnet®, utilizing trusted Zigbee® mesh networking. The networks can only be opened by authorized personnel.
