Chilled Beam Series

“SEMCO offers a wide range of active and passive chilled beams which combine radiant cooling with conventional overhead ventilation to reduce energy usage, improve comfort levels, and reduce the architectural impact of ductwork and other mechanical systems.

A chilled beam system is designed for use in non-residential applications where there is a high-temperature load or rooms that require individual comfort control. FläktGroup SEMCO’s chilled beams are designed to manage high cooling capacity by using a primary air supply, typically outdoor air, to increase airflow over the element. The primary air is then supplied to the room through diffusers built into the beam. Many of our beams have a patented system for adjusting airflow, cooling effect, and airflow pattern making them highly adaptable to suit the changing conditions of any given space.

Energy Recovery Wheels

“SEMCO wheels are exceptionally energy efficient products and come in a variety of sizes and capabilities. In conjunction with an energy recovery unit, these wheels help to pre-cool and dehumidify the outdoor air during the cooling season while preheating and humidifying the outdoor air during the heating season. As a result, outdoor air can be raised from 5 to 20 CFM per person without increasing energy costs.

This is especially beneficial because of ASHRAE Standard 62, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality. Referenced in part or whole by all building codes in the United States, this standard recommends that outdoor air quantities be increased from 5 CFM per person to 20 CFM per person (in an office environment) to avoid adverse health effects. In addition, when utilized with a purge section, the FläktGroup SEMCO wheels excel at ensuring viral and bacterial contaminants in a building are minimized and do not allow widespread dissemination.
